New Delhi: The Mustafabad assembly constituency in Delhi will get a new name. Mohan Singh Bisht, a BJP MLA, said this on Sunday. He suggested renaming Mustafabad Shiv Vihar or Shivpuri. By a margin of 17,578 votes, BJP candidate Mohan Singh Bisht defeated Adeel Ahmed Khan of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to win the Mustafabad seat.
Mohan Singh Bisht made lotus bloom in Mustafabad
Tahir Hussain, a jailed suspect in the 2020 Delhi riots, outperformed the Congress and reduced the AAP’s vote share. Tahir Hussain, an AIMIM candidate, received 33,474 votes and finished third in Mustafabad, while Congress came in fourth. Ali Mehdi, the party’s candidate in Mustafabad, received 11,763 votes.
On one side there are 58 percent and on the other side there are 42 percent. Who should we respect?” When asked why there was such a hurry to change the name of a place where not many people went and where autos and taxis did not ply, he said, “Autos and taxis will ply. Bulldozers will also ply.”
Bisht is in the race for the post of Chief Minister
Some people in the BJP are looking at Bisht as a possible candidate for the post of Chief Minister. On being asked about these speculations, Bisht said, “The party gave me the opportunity to contest elections seven times and I won six times. I am a dedicated worker of the party and whoever the party chooses will hold the symbol of ‘lotus’.”
